How You Can Help

The City is committed to keeping our City streets clean and maintained and to help improve the water quality of our streams. Pollutants in the street (fluids from vehicles, debris, pet waste) are carried by rain water runoff into the stormwater system. Most of the water which flows to a catch basin does not go to the treatment plant, but drains directly to a natural water source. Street sweeping helps remove pollutants that are on the streets before they enter the stormwater system. Cooperation from the Millersburg community is an essential part of keeping streets and stormwater drains and basins clean and working well. Here are ways you can help:

  • Move parked vehicles from the street the day your street will be swept, and observe the Municipal Code which prohibits placing any debris in the street, such as grass clippings, tree limbs, bark mulch, rock and garbage.
  • Remove grass or weeds that grow in the gutter to reduce debris and improve water runoff during rain storms.
  • Report abandoned vehicles to the Linn County Sheriff's Office by calling their non-emergency number.
  • Properly trim shrubs and trees in the parking strip so the sweeper can clean next to the curb.

Leaf Collection

The City of Millersburg does not have leaf pick-up service. Please use your yard debris container for leaf disposal. This prevents leaf piles from blocking bike lanes, clogging storm drains and catch basins, and from blowing into neighbors' yards.
